 Cup Profile
We collaborated with Flight of Fancy on this delicious Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. This coffee is a medium roast that has juicy berry and chocolate notes with a rose-like finish. It’s like a fine wine after a hard day creating and hustling!

About This Coffee

This single farm lot comes from producer Tsigue Jigso Oda, a
female producer in the Kochere District of the Gedeo Zone.
Freshly picked red cherries were slowly sundried on raised beds
for two weeks. To avoid the intense heat from the sun, the coffee
was covered during parts of the day. The coffee was hulled in
Chelelektu and dry milled for export in Addis Ababa.

Tsigue Jigso Oda owns a nine hectare farm in Yirgacheffe/Kochere district. She operates the farm with the help of her eight children and her extended family. Farmers such as Tsigue are spearheading the way for quality focused Ethiopian farmers to produce and sell their coffees directly to international markets. Two years ago Tsigue was voted the most successful farmer in her locality and was awarded a special permit to export her coffee direct. Learning to export coffee has proven quite challenging. The service infrastructure to support farmers like Tsigue is slowly emerging but it still presents farmers with many challenges. Genuine Origin’s sister company in Ethiopia has been supporting Tsigue in this new endeavor.
